Abstract:
"This study focuses on knowledge development concerning safety aspects of cycling and parking facilities along distributor roads (limit 50 km/h) near intersections with access roads (30 km/h or lower) within the urban area. [...] One of the analyses indicates that 84% fewer crashes between bicycles and motor vehicles occur at intersections with parking spaces at a distance of 5-10 metres than when they are at a distance of 0-5 metres (significance of p value of 0.04). This analysis was carried out for a selection of three-legged distributor-access road intersections within the urban area in the province of Utrecht for crashes in 2007-2020."
